East Peckham Parish Council recognised the dedication of it’s chairman, Mark Williams, by awarding him the Freeman of the Parish.
The Council wished to recognise the huge amount of time and effort Mark had given whilst chair of the Parish Council, and were pleased to be able to do so in such a way.
During several year’s of voluntary service to the council, Mark has given hundreds of hours to the community in a variety of ways; overseeing projects such as the purchase of the public toilets, the set up of the new allotments, the purchase of the new Community Garden land to name a few. When the council was subject to bank fraud, Mark spent 4 hours on his 70th birthday in the bank whilst it investigated how it’s protocols failed, along with numerous other visits and phone calls as the investigations continued.
He takes an active role in all of the Committees, helping the council with Events, Finance, Staffing, Planning matters and the Council’s Assets, attending meetings and helping to ensure tasks are carried out. If ever one has a question about something to do with a village matter, Mark almost always knows the history of it or can pinpoint how to find out and his knowledge has bene invaluable on many occasions!
